About the salon
Groom and Fluff opened in 2022 in Mérignac
We started with a simple premise: most grooming salons see too many animals per day. The economics push salons toward volume — more dogs in, more dogs out — and the animals pay for it in stress and rushed work.
We decided to do the opposite. Two to three animals per day, maximum. One groomer per animal. No cages between steps. It means we can't take every booking request, but it means the animals we do see actually leave calm.
We're a small team — not a franchise, not a chain. We keep notes on every animal we see. We know your dog's coat type, their sensitivities, what they liked and didn't like last time. That builds up over visits.
The salon is in Mérignac, on the Avenue de St Médard. We're open Tuesday through Saturday. English-speaking — which matters to the significant expat community in the Bordeaux area who don't want to navigate breed-specific terminology in French.
Appointment only
We don't take walk-ins. Every session is booked in advance so we can prepare properly and not overcommit.
2–3 animals per day
That's the ceiling. It means we can take our time, give full attention, and not rush anyone through.
One groomer per session
Your animal is with one person for the entire session. No handoffs, no waiting in between.
We keep notes
Coat condition, sensitivities, what went well, what to try differently. Every visit informs the next.
Honest limits
Things we don't do
We don't sedate animals
Sedation for grooming requires a vet. We work with calm handling techniques and give animals time. If a dog or cat can't be groomed without sedation, we'll tell you that directly and recommend you speak to your vet first.
We don't overpromise on anxious animals
We can often help anxious dogs become more comfortable with grooming over several visits. We can't promise a complete transformation after one session. Progress takes time, and some animals will always find grooming stressful.
We can't always take new bookings immediately
Because we limit the number of daily appointments, we sometimes have a waiting list for new clients. If that's the case, we'll tell you when you contact us.
We're not a vet
We notice things — skin conditions, lumps, ear issues — and we'll mention them. But we won't diagnose. If we spot something that looks like it needs attention, we'll tell you to follow up with your vet.
